Planning 1st DCL cruise Dec.2010. Our son will have just turned 5. He is a little shy & nervous in new setting (especially since no other kids going w/ us.)Will they allow parents to hang out for a little while in kids' club until he get comfortable

    Hi Terra,

Welcome to the Moms Panel, and congratulations on planning your first Disney Cruise.  I have found that this is the perfect family vacation - kid friendly, fun and stress-free because everything you need is right there!

You've asked a great question, and rest assured that this is a very common concern.  Parents are welcomed and encouraged to spend time with their children in the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab.  The first couple Disney Cruises we took with children we stayed with our daughter for each and every activity she wanted to participate in.  It wasn't long before she was asking to go alone, and I would feel a twinge of disappointment every time I checked in and she wasn't ready to leave with me yet.

So rest assured, you can stay as long as it takes to make your little guy comfortable - and you might be amazed at how quickly it can happen!  Also keep in mind that at any time he wants to leave, you will be paged - so you can enjoy your time knowing that if you haven't been called back, he must be having fun!

    Have a great time!
