Planning a DC to celebrate HS graduation. One grad will be 18 and the other still 17. Mom Panel said the 18 yr old can still participate in Vibe so both can be together. Disney Cruise reservations said 18 yr old grads cannot do Vibe. Which is correct?

    Hi, Trayce!

Congratulations on your forthcoming graduation celebration -- a Disney cruise is a fantastic way to mark this milestone! When booking online, with a travel agent or with a Disney cruise vacation specialist, the ages and stages of life for the youth activities clubs are more distinct. They have to be in order to account for the number of passengers, fares, capacity in the various spaces, etc. However, once you're on board, the cast and crew aboard Disney ships will do everything possible to keep families together in order to get the most out of their vacation.

I recently had a similar situation in that my daughter aged out of Edge as a 14-year-old.  She could've hung out with her older brother in Vibe, but she felt more comfortable hanging with kids closer to her own age in Edge. In fact, one evening for an activity, I looked in Edge to see my 11-year-old son, 14-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son making pasta together! So don't worry...I'm sure that it will work out to everyone's liking.

My best advice for the teen clubs is to encourage them both to get to know the counselors and the other guests on Embarkation Day at Open House.  The kids get to know each other and plan their cruise on that day, and the longer your kids wait to go into the club, the harder it is to break into those friendships which seem to have already formed.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
