Hello! I am planning a 2 day visit in October. Is it possible to stay in a hotel near Epcot and take the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom without having a park hopper?

Hi Marissa! Welcome back to planDisney!

My favorite area to stay at the Walt Disney World Resort is near EPCOT. The reason being is three simple words: location, location, location! You are steps away from the International Gateway in to EPCOT. The EPCOT Resort Area has some of the best Deluxe Resorts Hotels on Disney property. There is no shortage between Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. Each are themed perfectly and offer incredible accommodations. Also, keep in mind the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel and Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel are just outside of Disney’s Boardwalk entrance and can be booked directly through the Disney website.

In regards to your October visit, without having the Park Hopper Option, you will not be able to visit the Magic Kingdom Park by taking the monorail. The reason for this is that the monorail station is located at the front of EPCOT and the EPCOT Resort Area hotels are located at the back of the park, known as the International Gateway. You will need to walk through EPCOT(which requires a valid park admission and park reservation) and exit out of the front entrance to access the monorail station.

Marissa, you will have alternative transportation options to get to the Magic Kingdom Park from the EPCOT Resort Area. Bus transportation is available directly from your hotel of choice to the Magic Kingdom Park. Buses typically run about 45 minutes before park opening and up to and hour after closing.

If you decide to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios instead, don't forget about the Disney Skyliner which has a station located just outside of the International Gateway. Here you can soar through the air on an aerial gondola themed to our favorite Disney characters in a matter of minutes.

I hope this helps you make some decisions on your upcoming stay. Have a magical visit!
