We are planning a 3 day trip and only want one day park hopper. What is the best way to purchase that? I am going to book a hotel/park package.

Hiya, Heather, and welcome to planDisney! I’m so glad you stopped by!

As your 3-day adventure to The Happiest Place on Earth starts coming into focus, choosing where to add a little extra flexibility can feel like unlocking one more layer of magic. Since you mentioned that you’re booking a Disneyland Resort hotel vacation package, your question could actually be interpreted a couple of different ways, so I’ll walk through both possibilities just to make sure you’re fully covered.

When you book a vacation package, each Guest receives a multi-day theme park ticket—typically 2 to 5 days in length, depending on your package selection. These tickets are One Park Per Day by default, meaning you can visit either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park each day, but not both on the same day. While those package tickets can be upgraded to include the Park Hopper option for an additional fee, that upgrade applies to the entire duration of the ticket, and there currently isn’t a way to upgrade just one individual day of a multi-day ticket to a Park Hopper. That said, I always recommend calling the Disneyland Resort Vacation Packages line and speaking directly with a friendly Cast Member—while I can’t guarantee a one-day-only Hopper upgrade is possible, it’s absolutely worth asking to see if any alternate options might be available for your specific situation.

If, instead, you were hoping to purchase just a single 1-day Park Hopper ticket alongside your hotel stay (instead of the multi-day ticket I described earlier), it’s helpful to know that vacation packages don’t currently offer standalone one-day tickets—they always include multi-day theme park tickets tied to the length of your package. If your goal is truly to only have one total theme park visit during your visit, you may want to compare the cost of a traditional hotel-and-ticket vacation package with booking your Disneyland Resort hotel and theme park tickets separately, which would allow you to customize exactly which ticket types you’d like to use.

Heather, I hope this helps bring a little clarity as your magical countdown continues. Even more exciting—since you’re visiting in February, you’ll be right in the heart of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, which is scheduled to run through at least the summer and is filling both parks with extra enchantment. You can look forward to vibrant anniversary décor, festive character moments, special entertainment, limited-time food and beverage offerings, and nighttime spectaculars that celebrate seven decades of Disneyland magic in truly unforgettable ways. It’s shaping up to be an incredible season to visit!

If you’d like help choosing the perfect day to Park Hop during the celebration or weaving some of those 70th highlights into your plans, please come back and see us here at planDisney anytime—we’d be happy to help!

Have a magical day, and see ya real soon!
