Is planning day by day the best way to see what we want to see

    Hi Kathleen,

I think planning an itinerary with some "wiggle" room for enjoying spontaneous moments and "repeat visits" to attractions your family identifies as their favorites is the best way to go.  Using an itinerary will help ensure that you have time to enjoy all of family's "top picks".  We usually start ours by having everyone in my clan make a list of two or three things they most want to see in each park, and making sure these things are included.  We also allow for a day or two to wake up and just do whatever strikes us that morning, including a trip to a water park, a day spent lounging at our resort, or a jam-packed day park hopping to "re-do" our most favorite rides.

I definitely recommend making advanced dining reservations for whatever table service restaurants you would like to visit.  Depending on the time of year, and various promotions that Disney is offering at the time you visit (Free Dining Offers, for example), it can be hard to secure a table without reservations.  Many times, it's easy to work your itinerary around these reservations.  For example, breakfast at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary is a great way to start a day at Magic Kingdom (as you can simply walk over to the park or hop on the monorail when you are done.)  Similarly, Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club is a fabulous character breakfast spot for a day you are planning to visit either Epcot or Hollywood Studios as both are either a short boat ride or walk from the restaurant.

Planning every single detail is certainly not necessary, and leaving room for spontaneity is a good idea, however, having a general idea of where you want to go and when will help facilitate a smoother trip in my opinion.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
