Hi, Joanne!
Wow! It's going to be excruciating for you to keep such a gigantic secret -- it would be for me!
The
8-Night Bahamas Cruise from New York City on the Disney Magic is going to be incredible with such fabulous ports of call -- including a trip to Walt Disney World. Plus, the days at sea will provide you and your family with the opportunity to get to know the ship, enjoy its amenities and activities and settle down in your home away from home.
My four kids experienced their first long cruise this summer, and I was not surprised that they wished it had been even longer. With age-specific events and spaces, no guest is
really ever ready to leave a Disney ship!
As far as motion sickness, I would consult with your child's pediatrician. I have never had any of my children suffer from this -- but I certainly wouldn't want to have to deal with it on vacation. You will see several guests on board with the prescription, time-released patch located behind their ears, and of course, some will bring an over-the-counter, motion-sickness medication with them. I have also heard that the accupressure bands called PsiBands work really well, and you can find these online.
Motion sickness may be treated by the on-board physician and/or nurse who are on call 24 hours a day or at the Health Center which is located on Deck 1. However, you may be charged for their services. Plus, I have been told that motion sickness is better prevented than treated.
I hope this helps you plan and gets you even more excited about your vacation next summer. Let me know if you have more questions or you just need someone to squeal in anticipation with you!
Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
Bon voyage,
Andi
