Hiya Shawona!
You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney. How wonderful that you are planning your daughter's 6th birthday at Walt Disney World Resort. We have celebrated several birthdays and milestones at Walt Disney World for my kids and my parents. It's such a magical destination for the youngest Mouseketeers and for the young at heart.
Shawona, if you are planning to book a stay for your large party at Walt Disney World Resort, I recommend reaching out to the
Group Reservations desk if you’re booking 10 or more Disney Resorts Collection rooms. But, before you call, have a look at the
Disney Resorts Collection Hotels so you have a sense of what kind of Resort you might like. There are Value Resorts like Disney's All-Star Resorts all the way up to Deluxe Villa Resorts, where you can fit up to 12 Guests in a Grand Villa. There are many Resort hotels to choose from.
If you aren't booking 10 or more rooms, you can book your hotel rooms through your My Disney Experience account. If you don't have one yet, it is easy to set up. Now, if you have several family groups (say for example you are traveling with grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc.) each party can book their own room through the
My Disney Experience and you can link your party through the Friends & Family List.
Next, you’ll want to decide how many days of
theme parks you would like to visit and which ones you would like to go to. Some people like to visit theme parks each day of their vacation, but our family only visits three parks during our vacation, and we spend other days enjoying all of the activities on Disney property outside the parks, such as
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark. You don't all have to do the same thing, and in fact, when traveling with a large group, I recommend having agreed-upon activities you enjoy together but splitting up other times and gathering at designated times each day.
If you are purchasing theme park tickets, please note that currently, you need to have both a valid theme park ticket and a
theme park reservation. So, I recommend checking the theme park reservation availability first for the dates of your visit, then purchasing the tickets, and then immediately reserving your spot for the theme park of your choice on your ticket dates. And remember, everyone in your party can choose the ticket options that work the best for them, but they do need to make these reservations in advance.
Now, once you have all of those pieces in place, you can make
Advance Dining Reservations 60 days out. For your daughter's birthday celebration, you may want to select somewhere special like Cinderella's Royal Table or Be Our Guest Restaurant if she likes princesses or Space 220 which is my favorite. You’ll also want to take a look at the
Enchanted Extras Collection for some extra special activities like tours and firework dessert parties, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, a Capture the Magic photo session, or even ordering a cake or special treats to your room.
I hope this helps you get started planning your magical celebration, Shawona. If I can help you with any further planning questions, stop back and see me here at planDisney, because you've got a friend in me!
See ya real soon!
