Ahoy Samantha!
Oh boy! You are my cruise hero! Combining a
Transatlantic cruise AND a Mediterranean sailing from
Barcelona sounds like an absolutely genius idea if you ask me. I applaud you wanting to figure out what this looks like in terms of travel requirements. No one wants to have snafus when it comes to getting onboard with Captain Mickey...or returning home.
So since you are sailing in May 2022, my best advice is to hold tight and see what develops with the travel requirements closer to your travel dates. What is being required to travel to Canada today is likely going to change many times in this fluid situation we find ourselves in.
If you are required to get a COVID test next year before you can return home to Canada, then you will have to have that done in Barcelona once you disembark. Disney Cruise Line does not offer any post-cruise testing. Worst case scenario, you might need to add a buffer of a few days in Barcelona before flying home, depending on what Canada requires at that time. Hmm, now that I think about it, I would call that the best case scenario because that would mean more time in Spain! My hope though is that we will be in an entirely different situation next year and many of the current protocols will not be necessary at the time you will be sailing.
The most up-to-date information will be available on the
Disney Cruise Line Experience Updates page. I also recommend that you continue to follow the official announcements from the Government of Canada.
Samantha, please stop back by planDisney if we can offer any cruise tips or tricks. I would love to have to go on some more sailings to make sure I have the most current information. You know, it would all be for “research.” Wishing you two MAGICal voyages!
Happy Sailings!
