We are planning a cruise for the spring and wanted to get walkie talkies to communicate with. Are they allowed and can you tell me approximately what the mileage range is on the ships.

Families report varying degrees of success using walkie talkies aboard the Disney cruise ships.

It seems that the more deck space between the two people communicating, then the spottier or more static the service seems to be. For example, some guests report not being able to talk between a lower and upper deck.

You'll have better communication with a good quality set with sub-channels.

Walkie talkies are very handy on Castaway Cay, but on the ship there are always some "dead zones" due to the steel infrastructure. I would google "walkie talkie disney cruise" and see what brands worked for other passengers.

    Bon voyage!
