We are planning a cruise in June 2012, an Alaskan Disney Cruise. Will there be enough for the grandchildren ages then 6 & 8 to do, there will 4 adults. Also what is the dress code, since they are going to Alaska, do we pack warmer clothing?

    Hi, Carol!

My family -- with kids ages 16, 14, 11 and 7 -- sailed on the Disney Wonder to Alaska this past June. We were spellbound by the scenery from the ship as well as in the ports, and we still bask in the glow of those fantastic family memories we made together on such an extra special voyage. In fact, our family's trip was chronicled in a seven-day video diary on Disney Cruise Line's YouTube Channel.  You should take a look at the seven videos for what all six of us did -- both together and separately -- on our Disney Cruise to Alaska!  You'll get a great idea for what there is to do and see both on and off the ship for each age group.

As far as packing, there is a suggested list for Alaskan cruises in the Planning Center on DisneyCruise.com, and I would echo the comment about dressing in layers -- with a water-proof/water resistant shell as your outer layer. Plus, make sure you bring a pair of binoculars (one set per every two people), and lots and lots of memory cards/batteries for your cameras.

Take a look at the Alaskan Port Adventures and plan to get out and experience this unique cruise itinerary. Don't worry if some of the shore excursions may be too adventuresome for the little ones.  Like mine, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to spend more time in the Oceaneer's Club or Oceaneer's Lab while you head off into the "wild!" Let me know if you have other specific questions about this or any Disney Cruise itinerary. That's why they call me the "cruise mom!"

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
