I am planning a cross country trip with my kids to Disneyland to celebrate my birthday and my daughter's 16. Do we get any treat to be there for the occasions? Would there be fireworks happening during the weekdays as well? Thank you!

Hey there, hi there, Andrea! Welcome to planDisney. We love getting to help Guests get all the answers to their planning questions. You've come to the right place!

I am so excited for you and your kids' road trippin adventure to Disneyland Resort. This is sure to be a core memory for all of you! I can't think of a better place to celebrate you and your daughter's birthdays than at Disneyland Resort. Plus, Disneyland is celebrating its 70th anniversary, so there's a whole lot of celebrating going on! The first step of any birthday celebration at Disneyland is to head to City Hall, a Guest Relations kiosk, or a checkout counter for a complimentary birthday button. This lets Guests and Cast Members have the chance to celebrate you too. At some table service locations, you may be able to add a birthday cake purchase to your reservation in advance. Also, it never hurts to let them know you are celebrating something when you check into your reservation, but pixie-dusted opportunities are never guaranteed.

During the summer season, fireworks are usually every day, but are always weather permitting. You can check out the Entertainment Schedule to see what events, shows, parades, and more are planned for that day.

Be sure to check out all the 70th Celebration happenings and the Foodie Guide so that you can plan out all your must-dos and must-eats! You definitely will want to try the 70th Celebration Macaron from Jolly Holiday. It's shaped like a birthday cake slice! It will make a great photo op, too! Pro tip: Use mobile order in the Disneyland app to order it in advance for a quick pick up and to avoid the line!

Andrea, I hope this helps you get your birthday planning started. You can always reach back out to us with any other planning questions you might have. See you real soon!

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
