We’re planning on coming to Walt Disney World next year and I was wondering if you had any favorite places that my wife and I could visit for a date night while the grandparents watch the kids. Thanks and hope you’re well!

    Hiya Chris,

Not all superheroes wear capes, and not all Prince Charmings wear crowns. It would be an honor to help Your Royal Highness plan a Walt Disney World Resort date night to remember. My recommendations fall into three categories: park time, Enchanting Extras Collection, and signature dining.

I love seeing the magic of Disney through my children's eyes. I also love having sole control of the joystick on Dumbo the Flying Elephant and shopping for my favorite things on Main Street, U.S.A. That being said, I highly recommend you and your wife take advantage of some adults-only park time. You'll be visiting during the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. Stroll around EPCOT's World Showcase hand in hand, stopping at will to enjoy a diverse array of food and beverage offerings at the global marketplaces. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for announcements about the Eat to the Beat Concert Series lineup. Stay up past your kids' bedtime to enjoy Harmonious, one of the new nighttime spectaculars that debuted as part of The World's Most Magical Celebration

One of my absolute favorite Disney experiences is Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour. This Enchanting Extras Collection experience does not exactly qualify as a date night activity since the five-hour tour begins in the morning, but I have to throw it out there in case the grandparents are willing to flex their hours. My husband and I enjoyed feeling like VIPs while getting a behind-the-scenes look at some of our favorite Magic Kingdom park attractions, visiting the infamous Uitilidor, and having our most burning Disney questions answered by a knowledgeable Cast Member. Drawn to Life presented by Cirque du Soleil and Disney at Disney Springs is another Enchanting Extras Collection experience to consider. The wonder of Cirque du Soleil's artistry combines with the magic of Disney storytelling in this emotional journey that will leave you inspired to dream in full color. There's truly not a bad seat in the house.

My kids are past the throwing food stage (thank goodness!) but they are not quite ready for a multi-course, three-hour dining event. The idea of enjoying chef-inspired creations while engaging in adult conversation and being treated to impeccable Disney service sounds like an adult Fantasyland. This dream becomes a reality at signature dining locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort. When timed right, Narcoossee's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort offer fireworks views. The sightline from Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera at Disney's Riviera Resort and Toledo at the Gran Destino Tower of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort offers a similar mix of romance and relaxation.

There's always something to celebrate at Walt Disney World Resort and a night without the kiddos is the perfect excuse to celebrate togetherness and explore a different kind of Disney magic. If the grandparents need any suggestions for activities to do while they're babysitting, send them planDisney's way.

     Choose magic,
