We’re planning on coming to Magic Kingdom over New Year’s Eve. Do we need to purchase additional tickets or passes to stay at the park until midnight?

Hello, Ryan! Welcome to planDisney! Spending New Year's Eve at The Most Magical Place on Earth is definitely a bucket list experience. I've already crossed it off my list, so I can help you out today. I'm sure you and your family will have a fantastic time and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. And now, let's talk about your question.

To answer your question: No, you won't need an extra ticket to enjoy New Year's Eve at Magic Kingdom Park. It's pretty much a regular day with no special ticketed events during the day or night. All you need is a regular admission ticket, and depending on your ticket type, you may also need a theme park reservation. But hey, there are a couple of things you should know to make sure you have the most wonderful time.

The first and foremost piece of information is that New Year's Eve at Magic Kingdom gets super busy. It's usually the busiest day of the year, and the park may even close in the morning due to the crowds. If the park reaches its maximum capacity, it may close temporarily until some guests leave, and then it will reopen. To make sure you get in, try to arrive as early as possible. We can't say if or when the park might reach capacity this year, so it's best not to risk it.

Don't forget to plan to stay inside the park for the entire day! If you happen to leave and the park reaches its capacity, you won't be able to get back in unless it's safe to do so. This means that people would have to leave in order for the gates to reopen.

And here's my last tip: although nothing has been announced for this year just yet, Magic Kingdom usually puts on a special fireworks show at 6:30 PM and 11:50 PM on both December 30th and December 31st. So, if you want to catch the show, you've got two chances to do so. Generally, December 30th is a little less crowded, but not by much.

I hope this helps, Ryan. Please feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. It's always a pleasure to assist our wonderful friends like you.

    Cheers
