We are planning on celebrating our son's first birthday at WDW in October. Any ideas on how tomake it a memorable one for him (or at least for the pictures!) We'll be a small party of 4 - mommy, daddy, 5-year-old big sister and birthday boy.

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Jimmie ~

Celebrating a 1st birthday at Disney World is a wonderful idea! Be sure to pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for him at your Disney Resort Hotel or any theme park Guest Relations location. You never know what pixie dust will come his way.

I celebrated my boys' 1st birthdays by getting their first haircuts at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. If he hasn't had his first haircut yet, I'd highly recommend it. They do an amazing job with little ones. Once they were finished with their haircuts, we took pictures with a big cape with a Mickey on it and the stylist holding big red plastic scissors. They got "My 1st Haircut Ears" and a certificate. It was a great experience and one I'll never forget.

Walk-ins are welcome at the Harmony Barber Shop but to be sure and to try to plan it around dining reservations or naptime, I'd recommend making a reservation by calling 407-WDW-PLAY.

A character meal is another great way to celebrate. Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace are awesome choices. They will even bring out a cupcake for your little Prince.

Book a family Portrait Session with Disney a Photographer. The Disney Photographers do an amazing job of capturing memories in some very unique settings and you only celebrate a 1st birthday once.

Start a tradition and have his picture taken with Mickey. It is great to watch kids grow up visiting Mickey through the years.

Let us know if you need some special ideas for big sister.

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
