I am planning on building a light saber on my next trip. Are there any issues with bringing the light saber on the airplane? Thanks.

    Bright Suns, Robert!

I'm so happy to hEAR you have a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation in the works! It's an AWESOME time to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth, as all four parks will be joining in to celebrate Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary. The World's Most Magical Celebration begins October 1, and will last for 18 months!

May the Force be with you as you travel to Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge to create and build your custom lightsaber at Savi's Workshop. "Gatherers" will guide you to the covert workshop where you can bring your creation to life using parts and pieces collected from all over the galaxy. You'll be able to choose one of four themes for your lightsaber: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, or Protection and Defense. You'll then select the power source - a kyber crystal, available in four colors: red, blue, green, or violet. Will you choose the crystal...or will the crystal choose you

You'll be led through the construction of your custom lightsaber with guidance from the Gatherers, selecting sleeves, emitters, pommel caps, and activation plates. At the end of your experience, you'll be presented with a Saber Shield to protect your new creation as you travel through Batuu and to other locations in the galaxy.

While the Millennium Falcon isn't available to fly you home, I'm happy to tell you that the TSA is totally cool with you bringing your lightsaber aboard a commercial flight. In fact, it's even posted on their website:

    "Light Saber
    Carry On Bags: Yes
    Checked Bags: Yes
Sadly, the technology doesn't currently exist to create a real lightsaber. However, you can pack a toy lightsaber in your carry-on or checked bag. May the force be with you."

I hope you have a wonderful Walt Disney World vacation, and an amazing experience in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios

    Til the Spire!
