I am planning on bringing my dog with us for our stay at Port Orleans Riverside in Sept. of this year. What are the particular rules for lhaving my dog in the room and walking her around the resort and leaving her in the room?

    Hi Melvyn, welcome to planDisney!

There are so many iconic Disney dogs, Pluto, Pongo, Lady and the Tramp, and now your pup! I love that Walt Disney World Resort offers pet-friendly resort rooms so our furry friends can join us on vacation.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- Riverside is one of four dog-friendly resort accommodations at Walt Disney World Resort. Although your dog is on vacation with you, dogs are not permitted in theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, or the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  Your dog is also not allowed in resort common areas like pools, restaurants, and fitness centers. When you are taking your dog out of your room, it must be on a leash or in a carrier.

When you check in to your Disney Resort hotel, you’ll receive Pluto’s Welcome Kit. This will include some goodies for your precious pup and a map of pet walking and relief areas.

If you are leaving your dog in your Disney Resort hotel room, please hang the “Room Occupied” door hanger outside of your room so Cast Members are aware that your dog is in the room. Housekeeping is not available when your dog is in the room, so you’ll need to schedule a time for Housekeeping to visit when your dog is outside of the room. To schedule a Housekeeping visit, dial Housekeeping on your in-room telephone. Dogs should not be left alone in your room for more than seven hours.

If you decide not to leave your dog in the Resort room, consider making a reservation for daytime boarding at Best Friends Pet Hotel. You can schedule group playtime, grooming, or even an ice cream break for your dog while you are enjoying the theme parks.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Walt Disney World Resort with your best furry friend, Melvyn. If you have any future questions, please visit me again at planDisney!
