We’re planning to bring our son to DisneyWorld for his 3 year old birthday and plans on going few days before turning 3. Do I need to buy park tickets for him?

    Hey there, hi there Chuk!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Walt Disney World is a magical place to celebrate any birthday! Your son may not remember all of the details surrounding his special day, but you'll remember all of the laughter, smiles, and moments that will last a lifetime. An added bonus: your little one doesn't need a park ticket to join in the celebration!

That's right. If your child is two at the start of your vacation, then you'll be able to enjoy the entire trip with him being under 3. He'll be able to enter the parks and share a meal with you at no cost. This is especially fantastic at character dining locations! You may want to consider a special meal with Mickey Mouse at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort, Tusker House in Disney's Animal Kingdom, Topolino's Terrace at Disney's Riviera Resort, Garden Grill Restaurant at EPCOT, or perhaps Hollywood & Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

These experiences book quickly, and it's already less than 60 days before your vacation, but I'm hoping you'll be able to get a reservation. If you don't get one right away, keep checking back. People cancel their plans and spots can open up. We've also been able to get a table the day of in some cases. Even though you won't be charged for your little one, include him in the count when making your reservation so that Cast Members will be sure to provide you with a table that has enough space for your party.

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, be sure to pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for the birthday boy. You can also pick them up at Guest Relations in all 4 theme parks. Cast members will love wishing your son a Happy Birthday, and you might even end up with some extra special moments throughout your visit.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
