Planning a birthday trip for my 11yo. He wants to bring a friend. Friend is a FL Resident also, but his parents aren't coming along. How do we get him a FL resident park ticket. He's a minor, so no license or mortgage of course.

Hey howdy hey, Erin, and welcome to planDisney! There's nothing like spending a birthday at the Most Magical Place on Earth with family and friends, and I can imagine you are all super excited to plan the perfect celebration! You'll be happy to know that you should be able to bring your son's friend with no issue - I'm thrilled to walk you through the process!

Though, as a Florida resident yourself, you're probably already familiar with the Disney Theme Park Tickets and Annual Passes that are available to you, I recommend checking the Walt Disney World Resort website for a little refresher. When your son's friend's parents are ready to purchase his tickets, they can head to this page for all of the details on how to verify their identity online, rather than in person. This is a great service that Walt Disney World Resort provides for Florida residents, so that they can go straight to the theme parks upon arrival! You can see even more details here about the type of identification required to verify their residency (the simplest is a Florida drivers license with a Florida address).

If your son's friend has a MagicBand, he should bring that with him. You might also consider stopping by Guest Relations at the front of any theme park to request a physical admission card to use throughout the day. He can use that card to scan in to the park, as well as at any attractions for which you book a Virtual Queue or Lightning Lane. While you're at Guest Services, be sure to ask for complimentary "It's My Birthday" and "I'm Celebrating" pins for your whole party to wear - Cast Members will love wishing your son a happy birthday throughout your time at Walt Disney World Resort!

Erin, I recently visited Walt Disney World Resort with my son and niece who are about the same age as your son, and I can't overstate the amount of fun they had on the thrill rides, like TRON: Lightcycle / Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. What I was surprised most by, however, was their genuine interest in more (dare we say it?) "educational" attractions like The Hall of Presidents and their appreciation for the thoughtful design of each country in the World Showcase at EPCOT. I was delighted by how Walt Disney World Resort seemed to pique their curiosity and creativity. It just goes to show that Disney truly is for every age and every stage!

I hope that your son's upcoming birthday celebration is full of magical moments that you'll remember for years to come. I can only imagine that it will be a birthday of epic proportions! Happy 11th, and many more!

    See you real soon!
