Hi there, Dina - welcome to
planDisney!
Thanks so much for stopping by with your question for our team of panelists. We love to help Guests just like you plan magical Walt Disney World Resort vacations!
I'm so excited to hEAR that you're planning to celebrate your 30th birthday with Mickey and friends - I absolutely love celebrating every special occasion at Walt Disney World Resort! Not only are you celebrating a birthday, but the
Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration will be in full force during your visit as well. There will be extra pixie dust around every corner!
When I saw your question, I knew I had to answer it because I'm also a lover of King size beds when I'm on vacation. While most
Disney Resorts Collection Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts only have the ability to
request a King instead of two Queens in a standard room, most Moderate Resorts actually offer Guest Rooms with King size beds as a separate room type that you can reserve, basically guaranteeing you'll have a King. The one downside is that there are far fewer rooms with King beds, and this means that availability can sometimes be a challenge.
While I don't know how many nights you plan on staying, I was able to search and find availability for several room types with King beds at
Disney's Coronado Springs Resort starting on your arrival date. If you're like me, you might forget that Coronado Springs isn't actually a Deluxe Resort, and that's because it certainly feels Deluxe, especially if you're staying in a room in the new Gran Destino Tower - it's technically a Moderate Resort!
As you mention in your question, I did notice that there doesn't seem to be much availability for a room with a King bed in the other Moderate Resorts. Availability is dynamic and changes all the time as other Guests make and change their own plans, so keep checking. If you had your heart set on another Moderate Resort,
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, for example, you can always try to adjust the dates you are searching for to try and identify which nights a room with a King bed
is available. If it's not for your entire stay, you might want to consider a "split stay" - spending some nights in another room type or Resort, and then moving to your preferred room with the King bed (or vice versa). Split stays are really common and popular, and Bell Services can even store and transfer your luggage for you!
I hope this information is helpful as you continue planning for your milestone birthday trip! Be sure to check out
all the exciting holiday fun that's returning this year, and stop by
planDisney any time with additional questions!
