Hi Beth! Welcome to planDisney! We’re so glad you stopped by to bring us your question.
I can tell you’re already looking ahead to the details that make a big family trip run smoothly, and that kind of planning really pays off once you are here.
At Walt Disney World Resort, all tiny guests ages three and up do scan a finger when entering the parks along with their
ticket or
MagicBand. The purpose is simply to link that specific ticket to that specific Guest. For little ones like your 3-year-old, you will be right there the first time she enters the park to place her finger on the scanner. After that, your little mouseeteer can enter with anyone in your travel party.
The good news is that the grandparents will have no problem taking her into the park on their own for a special evening of magic. Just make sure she has her ticket or MagicBand with her, and that her finger scan has been set up earlier in the trip when you are together.
Beth, I love that you are already planning a night where the grandparents get their own Disney memories with her. Those moments are truly the heart of a big family vacation. You can enjoy some time to yourselves, knowing she is off making magical memories with them, too! Make sure you let them know about the Baby Care Centers at all four theme parks.
Baby Care Centers offer quiet, air-conditioned spaces that are perfect for a quick break. They will find toddler-sized toilets, changing tables, and even a cozy spot to regroup if she just needs a moment to reset. It is a wonderful hidden gem, and I think they will be glad to know it is there.
I hope this helps answer your question. Please do come back and see us again for any additional planning questions or tips!
Wishing you a trip filled with pixie-dusted memories, giggles, and maybe even a Mickey-shaped snack (or two). See ya real soon! ~Emille
