I am planning on my babys 1st year by bringing him to Disney for the first time, and wanna make it special! I remember seeing little kids riding in the cars in the parade when its their bday and want to see how can i make that happen for my little guy.

    Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Firstly and most importantly, happy birthday to your little man!

There are so many ways to make a birthday magical at Walt Disney World Resort. I think in your question, you’re referring to being selected as Grand Marshal for the daily parade in Magic Kingdom Park; from what I understand, this is completely random. My fellow Moms Panelist Diane W. shares some information here about how this works, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you are sprinkled with special birthday pixie dust.

Michelle, there are lots of wonderful things you can plan to celebrate the big ONE with your son. Hop on board one of the Main Street Vehicles for a whimsical ride, and stop for the Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Street Party, a colorful dance parade.

Be sure to stop and pick up a Celebration button; they usually have them at Guest Services as well as at the balloon vendor locations on Main Street. You could even visit Chapeau Hat Shoppe to pick him up a pair of birthday Mickey Ears. When Guests and Cast Members see his button and ears, he will be sprinkled with good wishes and pixie dust throughout his magical day.

A big birthday is the perfect occasion for baby’s first Mickey ice cream bar or other treat. Or perhaps you would like to schedule a special birthday meal with his favorite characters – Chef Mickey’s and The Crystal Palace are very baby-friendly, and you could get adorable photos of his celebration meal with Disney friends.

Vehicles, parades, dancing, snazzy accessories, and birthday treats…sounds like ONE special day to me!

Wishing your son a magical first birthday,
    Robyn
