I am planning on attending Star Wars After Dark event. I will be dressing up as Darth Vader. I will not be wearing the helmet. But is it allowed to wear the plastic chest piece along with the plastic shoulder pads?

Bright Suns, Gabriel! And a warm welcome from planDisney, your first stop on the hyperspace highway to a magical Disneyland Resort visit! We're thrilled to answer all your planning questions, whether you're from this planet or a galaxy far, far away!

I'm thrilled to hear you'll be attending Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite! I attended an After Dark event last year, and let me tell you, it was more fun than a Wookiee winning a game of Dejarik! Star Wars Nite is sure to be an experience that's out of this world—prepare for a galactic blast!

Your Tatooine spirit is strong, Gabriel! You inquired about donning a Darth Vader costume, and I'm happy to report that the Force is with you (mostly)! According to the event details, you can absolutely channel your inner Sith Lord, but with a few small adjustments. Think of it as making sure your costume is suitable for a diplomatic mission to a friendly planet like Earth! The Disneyland Resort has specific costume guidelines for anyone wishing to dress the part, and since you're attending the epic Disneyland After Dark event, you'll want to hyperspace jump to the “Dressing for Special Events” section to read the details.

Here's the galactic scoop: Costumes are welcome as long as they are family-friendly, don't contain any sharp objects, and don't include anything that resembles a real weapon. As for Darth Vader's iconic lightsaber? Have no fear, the glow of your lightsaber will be a welcome sight! As long as it's forged from plastic, it's permitted to accompany you on your galactic adventure. But, about that dramatic cape... Vader's known for his flowing fashion, but for this particular mission, capes must not extend below the waist. Perhaps Lord Vader could visit a galactic tailor for a quick alteration? It would be a small price to pay for intergalactic fashion compliance!

Lastly, regarding your chest piece and shoulder pads, Gabriel, the answer is a bit like navigating an asteroid field—it depends. The guidelines mention that layered costumes are strongly discouraged. This doesn't mean your plastic accessories won’t be allowed, but be prepared that you might face a more thorough security check than a smuggler trying to sneak past a Star Destroyer. Think of it as an extra layer of adventure!

And speaking of adventure, are you ready to join the Fans of the Force Costume Cavalcade? It's your chance to shine brighter than a twin sunset on Tatooine! Guests in costume may be invited to march alongside fellow galactic visitors down Main Street, U.S.A., in a parade that's sure to be more impressive than an Imperial fleet!

May the Force (and the fun) be with you, Gabriel! If you have any more questions as you prepare for your epic journey to Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, don't hesitate to send another transmission to planDisney. We're always here to help you plan a vacation that's truly legendary!
