Planning on arriving in July for a family vacation. Which resort would be better for my two boys ages 8 &11? Animal Kingdom Lodge or Carribean Beach? I have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge but not with kids. Thanks for your help!

    Hi Angel,

Both Caribbean Beach and Animal Kingdom Lodge are wonderful choices for boys!  I recently got to tour a newly-renovated "Pirate Room" at the Caribbean Beach Resort and was very impressed by the attention to detail!  The beds were made to look like ships, and the curtains looked like flags with a giant "jolly roger".  My kids (two boys too!) would be in heaven!  If your boys like to swim, they'll love Caribbean Beach.  There are a total of 9 pools, including an unbelievable pirate-ship pool with slides, water canons and waterfalls.  It's amazing!

I also love Animal Kingdom Lodge, and stayed there with my children a few years ago.  We are going back in August, and I can't wait!  We were lucky enough to have a savanna-view room, and the image of my boys standing on the porch staring in awe at giraffes outside our window in their pj's is one I'll never forget.  The access to exotic animals, the unbelievable grounds, and Uzima Pool (a huge, zero-entry pool, with an awesome slide that's themed like an African watering hole) are outstanding.  In addition, Jiko and Boma, the two table-service restaurants on site are among our favorites at Disney.

I honestly think you can't go wrong with either choice, so I would allow your budget and boys' preference for pirates versus animals guide your decision.  If you'd like to take a peak at some great, detailed pictures of both resorts, go to the independent website www.allears.net and search "accommodations" for both properties.

    Have a magical trip!
