We are planning a April 2010 trip to Disney for the first time with our 5 yr old son and I can not decide on a resort to stay at. I hear the value resorts are a money saver but far from the parks. What do you suggest? Are they really that far?

    Hi Zita!

You heard correctly - the Value resorts are great money savers!  To be honest, at about 20 minutes by bus from each park, they are no more distant than many of the other resorts.  To check out the quickest routes from any of these resorts to any location in Disney World, have fun trying out the Transportation Wizard on www.OurLaughingPlace.com.  The Value resorts have a lot of great reasons to stay there, in fact, we stay at Pop Century at least once a year!  Since the Value resorts are quite large, the availability of buses is even much better than at some Deluxe resorts.

Considering your son's age, I think that we will LOVE the larger than life theming found in these hotels.  How does a giant Buzz Lightyear and Woody sound???  Also, the Value resort food courts are, hands down, the best on property.  While the Values don't offer any table service restaurants, the enormous selection of quick service meals more than makes up for it.  The pools are absolutely amazing and the Disney Magic is oozing out of every detail!  Pool side movies and games are often part of the fun as well.  You truly get a lot of bang for your buck at the Value Resorts!!!

    Much pixie dust,
