We are planning an April trip and are considering purchasing the DDP but, I am unsure whether this means we will receive FREE meals at each of our choices or is it a % discounted meal?

Hi Deana - I understand that the Disney Dining Plan can definitely be confusing.  When you purchase the dining plan, you will receive meal credits for table service, snacks, and counter service (the amount you receive depends upon which plan you choose to purchase).

The original dining plan includes an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage for both the counter service and the table service meals.  It does not cover gratuities, which you'll have to pay for table service.  So, if you eat at a counter service location and just order what is covered, then you won't have to pay anything additional.  As for the table service, you'll have pay gratuity and any extra food you order.

For my family, we find the original dining plan does actually offer enough food for us, so we usually spend very little additional money.

    I hope that helps!
