Hi Sandy!
Welcome to the digital frontier that is planDisney! How awesome is it that you will have the opportunity to launch into the Grid during your vacation at the Most Magical Place on Earth?! Your timing couldn’t be any better—although you’ll need to stay vigilant and be ready to race against the Programs.
As you may already know,
TRON Lightcycle / Run opens April 4, 2023 at Magic Kingdom Park. I have always wanted to visit the portal into the Grid found at Shanghai Disneyland’s TRON Lightcycle Power Run, so imagine how I felt when I heard that another would be placed in my “backyard”!
In order to be among the first to experience the journey through the Energy Gates on TRON Lightcycle / Run at Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll want to consider a few things:
1) You’ll want to make a
Disney Park Pass Reservation for your desired date (on or after April 4, 2023) for Magic Kingdom Park, or plan on park hopping to Magic Kingdom Park after 2 p.m. from another Walt Disney World Resort theme park. Keep in mind that Magic Kingdom Park may reach capacity, especially in the opening weeks of the new attraction, so I recommend arriving as early as possible to ensure park entry.
2) Be prepared to use the
Virtual Queue system, accessible via the
My Disney Experience App. This has not been confirmed or officially announced by Walt Disney World Resort; however, the last few newest attractions, like
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance have utilized the system for a duration of time after their respective openings. Please check out the
Virtual Queue website and
Individual Lightning Lane for more information about how these systems works (in case TRON Lightcycle / Run does indeed use them).
3) The ride will have a minimum height requirement of 48 inches. If you haven’t already, watch videos of the Shanghai Disneyland version’s ride vehicle to get an idea of how you will be positioned during the experience.
AN EXTRA GEM: If you want even more thrills at Magic Kingdom Park, try conquering the “Mountains.” Splash Mountain will be closed for a retheme during your visit; but, you must visit Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and the Seven Dwarves Mine Train!
Keep your eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for more information about this new attraction. Please don’t hesitate to
revisit me here at planDisney! I love talking about Disney attractions with fellow theme park Guests like you. See you in the Grid, Sandy!
Magic always,
LeAndra
