We are planning our annual trip this year over Christmas. I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how to present Santa and Christmas morning festivities to our children, and which deluxe resort would be the best for this?

    Hi, Kevin!

    What a great question!

If I were staying at a Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort this Christmas, I'd have to pick Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. All WDW resorts will be decked out in their holiday finest, but this one will feature the grand life-size gingerbread house right in the lobby, and will surely feature a visit from some very special people during your stay. Moreover, you'll be a quick monorail ride away from all of the fun at Magic Kingdom, so the fun will be right next door!

You'll be able to find Santa in several locations, and can surely enjoy a spectacular time either at your resort's holiday festivities or in a park. For special events such as this one, we often create a document on the computer which includes possible options (which we find on reviews and unofficial posts from great sites such as and photos of events we expect to see on our upcoming trip. Write dates, activities and include photos on the document, then print and present the possible itinerary at a very special time (photos work wonders with little ones!) and you're sure to create a lot of fun for Christmas morning!

You could also try a scavenger hunt, with clues left throughout your room (planted the night before) which  lead the kids to the next activity planned for the day. Bring some envelopes along with markers so that you can carefully code these activities along with stickers and goodies that you can pick up once you are in WDW.

Ship a box of items to your own attention at the resort, and pick it up when the kids aren't looking. Once they are asleep, tuck these pre-wrapped goodies under a mini-tree in  your room (available at Disney Floral & GIfts) and wait for their wonderful reaction in the morning!

Send more questions as you think of them, Kevin. There are so many ways to make this a most spectacular Christmas stay in WDW, I can't wait to help!
