Hi! Planning our 3rd annual family trip in October. We have 2 kids (3yrs & 15mo) and usually stay at POR. We spend most of our 8 days at the resort. Torn btwn AKL or Studio at SS.Which would you reccomend with kids ages?We love good activites & pool

    Hello, John!

What a wonderful time of year to travel to Walt Disney World!

I have to be honest about your resort choices:  both are my Home Resorts with Disney Vacation Club, and I've stayed at each one several times.  That being said, and with your stating that you love to stay at the resort and the pool, I highly recommend Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.  We love the kids' water-play area at Kidani Village (Uwanja Camp) so much that we're booked to stay there again this summer specifically because we'll have our twin 6-year old nieces with us.

While I love both resorts as well as their pools, and Cast Members at WDW resorts always do a fantastic job getting Guests both old and young alike to get involved in games and poolside fun, you won't believe the amount of time your little ones will want to spend at Uwanja Camp. (Think water cannons, slides, etc.)

The one downside to Kidani Village, however, is that you'll need to head over to Jambo House (about a 15 minute walk) should you wish to have anything substantial to eat while poolside.  If that's more important to you than the kids water-play area, then reserve a room at Jambo House and hit Kidani Village's pool for an afternoon or two.

Please send me additional questions once you've decided on your resort; I'd love to help!
