I have never planned a trip to WDW and am needing help/suggestions for hotels, how to reserve events at Galaxy's Edge, how to get fast passes and how to attach everything to a Disney wristband. I am a Florida resident looking for resident discounts.

    Hiya, Lawrence! Welcome to planDisney!

Oh boy, I'm so excited to hear that you're planning a magical vacation to Walt Disney World Resort this July! I would love to help to answer any questions you have and to make your trip extra special. Are you ready? As my friend Peter Pan says, "Here we go!"

    • First, make sure that you've made your Theme Park Reservations using the Disney Park Pass system! This is the best way to reserve the parks you wish to visit on each day of your trip. My best piece of advice would be to make these reservations as soon as you're able!
    • There are so many amazing Disney Resorts Collection hotels to choose from - you can't go wrong! My personal favorites are Disney's Pop Century Resort for a Value Resort Hotel, Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside for a Moderate Resort Hotel, and Disney's Beach Club Resort for a Deluxe Resort Hotel.
    • You'll be able to make advance dining reservations 60 days prior to your arrival date. If you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you'll be able to make these reservations 60 days prior to your arrival date for the length of your trip (up to 10 days). I'd recommend making these reservations at 6:00 AM EST 60 days before your trip (which is May 16!).
    • You'll also be able to make advance reservations for Enchanting Extras 60 days prior to your trip for the length of your trip if you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. This will include special events that you can find at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, such as Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers and building your own robot friend at Droid Depot! If you're a huge Star Wars fan like me, then you'll also want to consider making a reservation for some galactic libations at Oga's Cantina
    • Walt Disney World Resort is utilizing a new system called the Disney Genie+ service! Instead of FastPasses, you can skip the line by reserving an attraction's "Lightning Lane." If you're looking to reserve attractions, there are two important ways you can do this. You can purchase the Disney Genie+ service and begin selecting attractions for the next available arrival window on each day of your trip. You can also purchase an Individual Lightning Lane entrance for some of the most popular, in-demand rides! If you want to truly have "phenomenal cosmic powers," you can use BOTH the Disney Genie+ service and Individual Lightning Lane entrances

The great news is that all of your plans made through your My Disney Experience account will be connected to your MagicBand - like magic! All you'll need to do is select which MagicBand you'd like and complete your purchase. I hope I was able to help you today! If anything else pops up, please visit us again.

You've got a friend in me!
