Hi! We planned our trip last Jan to come Jan 2021. I see Columbia Harbour House is unavailable right now. Do you know when it reopens? Do you have any good resources for gluten free options at Disney World? Some have it on their menus, some don’t. Tracy

    Welcome back to planDisney, Tracy!

Oh, you must be so excited for your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World!

For the most up-to-date list of restaurants currently open in the theme parks, Walt Disney World Resort hotels, and Disney Springs, start with reading through the very helpful page Dining: Know Before You Go. For your gluten-free concerns, you'll want to read the post regarding Special Dietary Requests, where you'll see that "most table-service and major quick-service restaurant locations offer allergy-friendly menus or allergy guides to address common allergies and intolerances." No matter where you go, ask to see that allergy guide, as you'll find it so very useful. I've even seen that allergy guide at kiosks while grabbing an iconic Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar--so helpful!

Columbia Harbour House is a wonderful choice for those avoiding gluten, so I know my family is looking forward to its eventual reopening, too. (No date has been announced at this time.) Until then, take a look at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe's Gluten/Wheat Allergy-Friendly menu. There, you'll find gluten-free burgers, nachos, and rice bowls, plus gluten-free cookies and brownies, too. (There are even options for my gluten-free/vegetarian daughter!)

We're also big fans of Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, which offers gluten-free burgers, hot dogs, and salad, plus gluten-free cookies and brownies as well. The menu at Pinocchio Village Haus features gluten-free pizzas, gluten-friendly chicken breast nuggets, gluten-free antipasto salad, plus gluten-free cookies, brownies, and gelato. Like Columbia Harbour House, all of the above are quick-service restaurants located in Magic Kingdom Park.

If your vacation includes a stop at Disney Springs, be sure to visit Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC which offers cupcakes, teacakes, bagels, cookies, donuts, crumb cake, focaccia bread and so much more--all gluten-free!

A favorite unofficial source of Disney dining information is AllEars.net, and they have a helpful article entitled "Special Dietary Needs at Walt Disney World: Gluten Free". They've got a searchable Walt Disney World menu database that enables you to use the filter "Gluten Free Options", too.

Don't forget to download the super-handy My Disney Experience mobile app so that you can easily locate all of these fabulous dining locations.

As you plan your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth, be sure to send additional questions our way, Tracy. We love to help!
