I planned our trip to Disney for October. I purchased our airline tickets, book our stay and purchased disney tickets. I had no idea about the sold out not so scary sold out event. I feel so terrible for kids want can I do to help us get in? Please help

Greetings Erika, and welcome to planDisney!

It's almost time for some frightful fall fun at the Walt Disney World Resort! I can't wait for you to experience the magic of the 50th-anniversary celebration. I just returned from an incredible visit during which I enjoyed new nighttime spectaculars and took a spin on the all-new attraction, Remy's Ratatouille Adventure

All dates for the Magic Kingdom Park's separately ticketed event, Disney After Hours Boo Bash are sold out, but Hakuna Matata! You and your young ghouls will still be greeted by boo-tiful decorations throughout the Magic Kingdom Park; I love the Mickey Mouse-shaped pumpkins that line Main Street U.S.A! You'll also find plenty of Halloween merchandise in the shops of Disney Springs, resort hotels, and theme parks. If you're in the Magic Kingdom Park on the day of a Disney After House Boo Bash event, stop by a ticket window or Guest Relations to see if there are any tickets for sale due to cancelations.

If you'll be a Guest of a hotel in the Disney Resorts Collection, stop by the front desk upon arrival for a schedule of special Halloween activities that may be offered during your stay. I also recommend following the Disney Parks Blog and official social media accounts for updates to resort-wide seasonal offerings. Special events held at individual resorts are usually announced during the days leading up to Halloween. In the past, I have seen things like themed movies or poolside activities, but this varies from year to year and is not guaranteed.

For something a little different and off the beaten path, consider renting a golf cart one evening and taking a drive through Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Many of the Guests here decorate their campsites in a spooktacular fashion and love to show off their creepy creations. This is a popular activity, so if you're interested, I suggest calling (407) 824-2742 to reserve your cart in advance. My family and I did this during a December visit one year, and it was one of the most memorable things we've done in Walt Disney World

Best wishes for a grim, grinning good time on your trip next week, Erika. Even if you aren't able to attend a Halloween event, your vacation will be full of magic and excitement from the anniversary celebration. Thanks for stopping by planDisney, and we'll see ya real soon!

Greetings! I'm Betsy, a middle school teacher, wife, and mom of two. My family and I love to travel the world, but our best memories are those made when we're visiting Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. No matter how many times we visit, there is always something new to see, ride, or eat at the Disney Parks. Learn More About Betsy
