Hi there, Matthew! Welcome to planDisney. I am so sorry to hear about your back injury. Sending you lots of happy thoughts and pixie dust for a quick recovery!
It's never fun having to cancel a visit to the Disneyland Resort, but I hopefully have some very good news for you. Typically, those theme park tickets have quite a bit of magic packed into each one. What do I mean by that? Well, the expiration date for a ticket purchased this year through the Disneyland website is December 30, 2023 for a single-day ticket and January 12, 2024 for a multi-day ticket! That's quite a long runway for your pumpkin carriage!
When you purchased your tickets, you likely made theme park reservations for your dates in early June as part of the check-out process. It can seem like the ticket and reservation are one and the same since they are made at the same time, but the reservations attached to your tickets can be canceled and rescheduled as much as you like before the ticket expires! While the Fairy Godmother won't be turning you into a pumpkin if you do not cancel your June theme park reservations, I like to recommend paying the magic forward and releasing them as soon as you know you won't be attending. Reservations are subject to availability and the summer months can be bustling, so you might just be sprinkling some pixie dust on someone's day!
When you're ready to make your way to the Happiest Place on Earth, I recommend taking a peek at the theme park reservation calendar to check current availability. This calendar is updated as Guests cancel and change their reservations, so even if you don't see your date available, keep checking! Sometimes it just takes some good old faith, trust, and ... patience!
I'm going to take over here from the Fairy Godmother and wave my magic wand to create a quick guide on how to change your reservations. It's faster than you can say Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!
- Log into your account on the Disneyland website and navigate to the "Parks & Tickets" tab along the top navigation bar. Select "Ticket and Reservation Details" from the drop-down menu.
- Here, you will be able to "View Current Availability for Theme Park Reservations", which is the calendar I mentioned earlier. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, though, tap on "View My Reservations".
- On this next page, scroll down until you see the dates for your current reservations and select "Cancel Reservation". You will need to do this individually for each date of your stay. Follow the prompts until you have tapped the "Done" button. It should take you back to the starting page where you can start the process again to cancel more dates OR select "Mark Park Reservations" if you are ready to choose some new dates!
Matthew, if you're looking to the months ahead for a visit, I'd love to put a little pumpkin-sized plug in for the fall.
Halloween Time is a spooktacular time to visit with Happy Haunts at every turn. You'll love Jack Skellington and his Nightmare Before Christmas crew taking over Haunted Mansion Holiday, the Halloween Screams fireworks at Disneyland Park are to die for, and, if you're feeling festive, grab a costume and a treat bag and prepare for lots of tricks at the Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure!
