We planned on taking our two sons (who will be 9 and 4) to Chef Mickey, but I just read about the Garden Grill that rotates and the family style meal. Which restaurant would be better and which characters would we see? This will be our first trip to WDW.

    Hi Jennifer!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Garden Grill, BUT Chef Mickey's wins hands down!  I thought that I would give you a few highlights of both and let you make the call.

I'm not sure which meal that your were planning to spend with the characters, but the Garden Grill is now only open for dinner.  It does rotate; however, it rotates verrrrrry slowly.  The scenery is OK, but not enough to keep the attention of two young boys.  I love the food and Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale all look so cute decked out as farmers.  I find the atmosphere a little boring, but the characters always seem to spend extra time with my boys here.

OK, now for my favorite.  Chef Mickey's is a loud, festive good time.  The buffet is great (don't miss the parmesan mashed potatoes - YUM!) and it has a real party atmosphere.  While eating, Chef Mickey, Chip, Dale and Chef Goofy make their way to each table.  At several times during your meal, guests are encouraged to wave their napkins around and join in the fun.  Oh, did I mention that you can take the monorail to this restaurant???  We have truly made some of our best memories ever at Chef Mickey's!

I encourage you to check out the photos and menus found on Allearsnet.com before you make your choice.  No matter what you decide, bring your appetite!

    Much pixie dust,
