Ahoy there, Leila! Thanks for dropping me a message in a bottle here at planDisney! I wish we were meeting under better circumstances, but I'll do my best to get you on a new course with headings for each checkpoint along the way! So let's get ready to weigh anchor and head out in search of the answer to your question!
Canceling a cruise is never fun, and canceling one with a
Star Wars Day at Sea is especially sad! I'm sorry the pause in sailings caused you to miss out, and I know exactly the feeling, as we had to cancel several Disney Cruise Line vacations, too over the past few years. But every bit of rough seas has smooth sailing to follow!
It sounds like you made the planDrew-approved decision to book another Disney Cruise Line vacation while you were still on board! That's one of my favorite ways to get not only a firsthand look at the ship before deciding on the perfect location of your next stateroom but depending on the current offer, a chance to get onboard credit! That's the type of planning ahead I like to see!
Something else I like to see is how Disney Cruise Line has instituted temporary policies like
Cruise Date Flexibility and the
Flexible Refund Policy that have relaxed cancellation fees and allowed Guests to take a little bit of the sting out of changing plans due to Covid-19.
Now, according to the
Frequently Asked Questions, only cruises that were canceled due to the pause in sailings were eligible for
Future Cruise Credit. If you canceled your cruise on your own (like my family has had to do for a cruise we were going to take in April), you would qualify only for a refund. The promotional onboard credit you would have received from your onboard reservation wouldn't apply since that cruise unfortnately never took place.
If instead you actually purchased onboard credit through
Onboard Gifts, you ought to have received a refund for any pre-purchases you had made. If you didn't receive this or don't remember, I've found that for folio-related questions,
emailing a crew member at Guest Services is a great way to get more information - especially lately as call volumes have been unusually high at the moment!
Finally, as of this writing, itineraries are only available through May 2023, and with the new Pixar Day at Sea coming to the Disney Fantasy next year, we'll all have to wait for a few release cycles to see what intergalactic adventures await us on the Disney Cruise Line fleet in 2024! I do have it on good authority that if you're looking for an intergalactic
experience in the meantime, the
Disney Wish will have spaces for all ages - from
Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge for adults to
Star Wars Cargo Bay for younger castaways! It's sure to be an incredible part of the newest ship in the fleet!
I wish I could use the Force to put you and your crew on another
Star Wars Day at Sea, Leila! Hopefully, with a bit of faith, trust, and pixie dust, we'll get good news on that front soon! Thank you so much for sailing my way with your question, and please come back and see me if you have any others. It's always an honor to help Guests like you!
Until we meet again, May the Force be With You, and I'll SEA ya real soon!
Andrew
