We are planing to visit April 11-18. I didn't realize this was Easter week-weekend. Crowd calendars aren't all reporting the same information. Anyone have experience being at Disney at Easter time?

    Hi Kimberly!

Here comes Peter Cottontail...hopping down the bunny trail...all the way to Walt Disney World Resort for a vacation! It's true that Easter weekend can be one of the busiest times to visit Walt Disney World, but with planning and preparation guests can have an amazing and magical trip.

The main reason crowds are at peak levels around Easter is that many schools have Spring Break during that time. Heavy crowds = longer lines - not only for rides, but also to get through security checks and through the entry gates. Here's some tips to help during peak season:

    • Arrive early. You might not be early birds at home, but you'll be so glad you set those alarms and got moving! I always try to get to the theme parks at least 45 minutes before opening. By being one of the first guests in the park, you can enjoy some of the most popular rides with shorter wait times than you'll experience later in the day.
    • Have a plan, and use FastPass+. The FastPass+ system is your friend on crowded days. With reserved times to experience your favorite attractions, you'll be able to skip the lines and have much shorter wait times for your "can't miss" rides. My advice is to make your FP+ reservations for mid-morning, after you've had a chance to ride several attractions (since you arrived early!).
    • If possible, have your own transportation. Walt Disney World provides complimentary transportation for resort guests, but during peak times the wait for a bus/water taxi/monorail may be long. With your own vehicle, you can get in and go without a wait (except normal traffic).
    • Use the MyDisneyExperience app. You can check wait times of rides nearby without having to walk all over the park. You can also make additional FP+ reservations (one at a time) once your first three have been used!
I hope this helps. Happy planning, and Happy Easter! - Diane W.
