I am planing my family's trip to Disneyland for the first time in March. Are there still fireworks? If so, how do I book the dessert party with fireworks? Thank you, Lorin A.

    Hi Lorin!

Welcome to planDisney, and hello my fellow Texan! It'll be my pleasure to be your planEAR today! Ooooh, I'm so excited about your first visit to The Happiest Place on Earth! Make sure you grab a 'First Visit' button, which can usually be found in a basket just inside City Hall on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, but is also available at almost any shop, dining location, and Disneyland Resort Hotel front desk.

At this time Dessert Parties for evening entertainment, as well as meals with guaranteed viewing sections for parades and evening entertainment, are still paused. The non-party experiences are just now starting to make their return, with my personal favorite the Main Street Electrical Parade teased on Dancing with the Stars to return at some point this spring.

When looking at the entertainment schedule for your visit, Lorin, the current fireworks show is the super fun and super dancy Mickey's Mix Magic. Pro Tip: this show has two versions - one with fireworks that's usually only shown on weekends, and the other without fireworks which is usually shown during the week. I promise you don't want to miss this one either way! Bonus Pro Tip: Mickey's Mix Magic is very heavy on projections as much as it is fun music and pyrotechnics, and can actually be viewed in multiple places around Disneyland Park. These locations include the front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, the face of the building of "it's a small world", as well as the rock formation on the south-most point of Tom Sawyer Island. (You'll stand on the sidewalk along the bank of Rivers of America, and can find a great viewing spot pretty much anywhere between the front of River Belle Terrace and the Haunted Mansion.) However, my favorite spot to watch (errr, dance) to Mickey's Mix Magic is in the middle of Main Street U.S.A. as these projections light up the entire street and the music gets everyone on their feet!

I'm so sorry that this information wasn't more helpful about the dessert party you had dreamed of. Where are you staying? You might be able to upgrade to a Fireworks View room at both a Disneyland Resort Hotel as well as at some of the Disney Good Neighbor properties; you could even create your own "dessert + pajama party" in your room! My fellow panelist and dear friend Julie P. stayed in a Fireworks View room at a Good Neighbor hotel just last week and I'm sure she'd love to tell you more about it! Don't forget to follow the official planDisney Instagram account. And if you have any more Disneyland Resort vacation planning questions, Lorin, We're All Ears!
