Our plane lands at 2:00. We will be taking Magical Express to the All Star Movie Resort. We have a reservation for Mickey's Backyard Barbeque at 6:30. Do we have enough time to check in and then travel to dinner? What is the best way to get there?

    Hi Cindy,

I love that you are jumping right into the Disney World fun with a dinner at Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Your family will love the fun atmosphere, character interaction and the food is delicious.

I typically plan on it taking 90-120 minutes to land, check in at Magical Express, get on a bus and make the approximate 40 minute drive to Disney World. Once on property you will want to check in at your resort and most likely freshen up in your room if it is available. Since you are using Magical Express I will assume you are having your luggage brought to the resort by the shuttle service so that will be one less thing to worry about. If you land on time and check right in, I would plan on being ready to head to your dinner reservations by 5:00pm.

The easiest route would be to take a bus from your resort to the Magic Kingdom. the bus ride is approximately 20 minutes. Once at the Magic Kingdom you will want to take a boat from the front of Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness (quickest route) or you can take a bus or boat to the Wilderness Lodge and transfer from the Wilderness to a Fort WIlderness bus. Another advantage in taking the boat directly to Fort Wilderness, is the boat will stop at the dock that is near the BBQ dinner area, where the bus will bring you to the main entrance of Fort Wilderness and you will need to transfer to another internal bus to take you back to dinner.

While there is little time to spare, you should be able to make your 6:30 seating as long as there are no unexpected delays with your flight or any of the Disney transportation. Once you arrive at your resort, if you have been delayed or time is running short, you may want to consider getting a cab to take you directly to the Fort Wilderness grounds. While this will cost you, it will save a great deal of time.
Hope you have a boot stompin' good time!
