Hi planDisney. 2 of our 3 kids have Autism and ARFID, and they only eat specific foods. They are extremely particular about the brand and appearance. What accommodations are possible on Disney Cruises? We do enjoy the parks annually but bring in food.

    Ahoy there, Jeffrey!

Welcome aboard planDisney! I love that you’re planning ahead to make sure your entire crew has the best possible experience at sea. One of the many things I love about Disney Cruise Line is how accommodating they are, ensuring that every Guest—no matter their dietary preferences or needs—feels right at home. So, let’s talk about how to make this voyage smooth sailing for your family!

First, I highly recommend calling Disney Cruise Line once you’re booked to discuss your children’s specific needs. The Cast Members can add important notes to your reservation regarding dietary preferences, sensory sensitivities, or anything else that would make your cruise experience more comfortable. You can also submit requests through the “Special Requests & Special Services” section of the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, but I’ve found that a direct phone call ensures everything is noted properly. The dining and Youth Activities teams are fantastic at making magic happen, and a little preparation before you sail can go a long way!

Now, let’s talk food! Since your kids are particular about brands and appearance, I recommend bringing along their favorite snacks. You can bring pre-packaged, nonperishable food items in their original, factory-sealed packaging. Just keep in mind that homemade or perishable foods aren’t allowed onboard. Having their go-to snacks handy can be a lifesaver, especially in those moments when they just want something familiar.

When it comes to dining, you’ll find that Disney offers a variety of kid-friendly options daily, like plain pasta, grilled chicken, white rice, pizza, chicken tenders, and more. Your dining team is there to help, so I suggest chatting with them on the first night to see if they can accommodate your children’s (and yours too!) preferences throughout the cruise. They’re incredible at working to make mealtime as stress-free as possible! Something we like to do on days when we have excursions is request Uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to take with us—perfect for those inevitable “I’m hungry” moments while adventuring. If your kids like them, this could be a great option while onboard as well!

Since you’re also a seasoned Disney Parks visitor, I want to mention that you’ll find a lot of that same world-class service onboard, especially when it comes to working with families who have unique needs. If your kids will be spending time in the Oceaneer Club, you can also stop by during Open House on embarkation day to chat with the Youth Activities counselors. They’ll do their best to make sure your kids feel comfortable and have the best experience possible.

I hope this helps as you prepare for your adventure at sea! If you have any more questions, I’d love to help—just drop anchor back here anytime.

Sea ya real soon with pixie dust and ocean breezes,
    Dustin
