Our plan year ends in July. Does our trip have to be concluded by the end of July or does it just have to start before the end of the plan year?

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

If I read your question correctly, it sounds like you have an August Use Year.  This means that your Vacation Points from one year expire on July 31, and you get your new allotment of Vacation Points on August 1.  You do need to complete travel on your current Use Year Vacation Points by July 31.  If the travel goes into August, Vacation Points for that part of the trip would need to come from your next Use Year; however, do not forget that you could bank current Use Year Vacation Points into the next Use Year if needed.

For example, if you wish to travel next year from July 27 through August 3, 2015, you would use your 2014 Use Year Vacation Points for the beginning of the trip and 2015 Use Year Vacation Points for the end of the trip.  However, if you had enough 2014 Use Year Vacation Points to cover the whole trip, you should be able to bank those points into the 2015 Use Year and thus use them for the early August portion of the trip.

I know that this can be a bit confusing Patrick; however, the good news is that banking exists and can help in situations such as this.  I strongly suggest that you call Disney Vacation Club Member Services at 1-800-800-9800 to speak with a cast member who can work through the specifics of your situation with you.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Patrick!  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
