Hi, Jeanny, and welcome to planDisney!
I'm so excited to hear that you've scheduled a
Capture Your Moment photo session for your upcoming
Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Last month, I celebrated my birthday with a Capture Your Moment photo session in
Magic Kingdom Park, and it was such a special way to commemorate the occasion. I'd be happy to help you figure out the logistics of your day so that you can fit in both a viewing of the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, as well as your photo session.
The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade begins making its way through Magic Kingdom Park starting in Frontierland. From there, the parade will travel through Liberty Square before making its appearance in front of Cinderella Castle. The parade will pass the castle, then head right down the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. It takes about 12 minutes to view the parade from start to finish, but if you plan to watch from near Cinderella Castle, please keep in mind that it will take some time for the parade to arrive at your viewing area. When the parade begins at 3:00, you can expect it to pass Cinderella Castle around 3:15. That means it will be getting close to 3:30 by the time you are finished watching the parade, and the parade will still be making its way down Main Street, U.S.A. during the time that you will need to be heading over to check in for your photo session. While the Cast Members do keep a walking path open in front of the shops on Main Street, U.S.A., it is very congested there during the parade. Normally it is a quick walk from Cinderella Caste to Box Office Gifts inside Town Square Theater where you will need to check in for your Capture Your Moment photo session. However, I would expect it to take significantly longer as the parade is finishing its route.
Jeanny, I think that under other circumstances, it would be a solid plan to use one of your
Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections to access the reserved parade viewing area. It's a great way to save the time you normally would use to stake out that perfect viewing spot. However, I want you to be immersed in the wonder of the parade, not stressing over a time conflict. I would recommend taking a look at the
entertainment schedule online or in your
My Disney Experience mobile app. On certain days, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade has an earlier performance in addition to the 3:00 parade. If an earlier showing is offered on the day of your visit, I might try to watch this one. If there is no earlier show, you could also arrive early and grab a viewing spot in front of Town Square Theater. Then at the conclusion of the parade, you'll just need to simply head inside the building to check in with your
Disney PhotoPass Service photographer.
If we can help you with anything else as you prepare for your trip, please don't hesitate to ask. Wishing you the most magical vacation ever!
Samantha
