We plan on visiting Typhoon Lagoon in August and would like to treat ourselves to a cabana. Can we stay in the cabana if there is a lightning / rain storm and if our attendant will take our orders for lunch if we are on the DDP? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Nicola,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another great question!

I’ve always wanted to rent a Beachcomber Shack during one of my visits to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park! One of the big reasons why I find them interesting is because, from what I understand, they are considered storm shelters due to the lightning rods on their roof. Considering the fact that afternoon storms are frequent (but often brief!) visitors in the summer months in Central Florida, the cabanas strike me as the perfect way to enjoy a full day of splashtacular fun.

That being said, the answer to your question about whether you’ll be able to order any food or drinks from your cabana attendant during a storm and even stay there to wait it out will depend on the storm’s intensity. If it isn’t safe for people (Guests or even Cast Members) to use the walkways, they may have to suspend service during the storm, and possibly even afterwards. As for ordering your food at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in advance, that might be possible, but you’ll need to check with your attendant once you’re on site.

I hope my answer helps you plan the perfect day at Typhoon Lagoon. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
