Plan on visiting in June or july 2012 two children. Ages will be 5 and 1. Confused about where to stay. Any suggestions. I was thinking animal kingdom. But heard it is far from everything?

    Hi Amanda!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the best resorts on property, especially for young children as they find the theming incredible.  Most young guests love seeing exotic animals right outside the windows of their hotel!  However, it is relatively far from the rest of Walt Disney World and if you are using Disney transportation, it does take a little longer.

With young children, you might be spending most of your time in the Magic Kingdom.  Thus you might want to consider staying in a Magic Kingdom Resort which will provide you easy access to and from the Magic Kingdom.  My favorite all time resort is the Wilderness Lodge, which is a Magic Kingdom resort, but not on the monorail line; you get to and from the theme park via a relaxing boat ride.  The Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and the Contemporary are all on the Monorail line giving you quick access; in fact, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom in about 5 minutes from the Contemporary.

By the way, if you will have your own car, then I recommend staying in the Animal Kingdom Lodge if that one appeals to you the most!  With your own car, it's very quick and easy to get around all of Walt Disney World.

Enjoy planning your magical vacation and write back with more questions!
