I plan on visiting Disney on my 21st birthday I will not be able to change my license to the version that doesn't say under 21. My current license will not expire. Will I be able to purchase alcohol in the park even though my license says under 21?

    Hiya Angie!

Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney with your question! And first things first, happiest 21st birthday to you! What a magical way to celebrate by spending it at Disney World. I can’t think of a better place to ring in such a fun milestone and make some core memories!

Let’s jump right into your question! To purchase an alcoholic beverage at Walt Disney World, you’ll need to present a valid form of ID. This can include a U.S. driver’s license, U.S. state ID, military ID, or an original passport. As long as your driver’s license is valid and clearly shows your date of birth, you should be all set.

I actually had the same experience when I turned 21. My license was still vertical, but the Cast Member checked my birthdate, and everything was good to go. Just remember, Disney reserves the right to refuse sale and/or service of alcoholic beverages to anyone.

While you’re celebrating, be sure to pick up a complimentary birthday button from Guest Relations, your resort front desk, or even select merchandise locations. It’s such a fun way to let everyone know you’re celebrating, and you might hear, “Happy Birthday!” all day long, from Cast Members to fellow Guests.

Angie, I hope this helps and that your birthday is filled with so much magic, laughter, and unforgettable moments. If you have any more questions, feel free to visit us again.

    See you real soon!
