I plan to visit Disney World in 2025, not realizing we booked for the days there will be a Marathon in town. plan to visit Jan 11-12 and are interested in Magic Kingdom/HS and the drink around the world experience at Epcot. Any tips to make most of time?

    Hi, Manny!

Thank you for visiting planDisney. I’m thrilled to help you plan your trip to Walt Disney World Resort, even during the excitement of Marathon Weekend!

Marathon Weekend is a popular time at Walt Disney World, but with some thoughtful planning, you can still enjoy the parks and make the most of your time. Plan for potential traffic and arrive early at the parks to maximize your time during lighter crowds. Races take place in the early mornings, so roads may be affected. If you’re driving, leave extra travel time, or consider using Disney transportation, which adjusts for race disruptions.

To make the most of Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, prioritize key attractions and use Lightning Lane passes for popular rides. At Magic Kingdom, consider classics like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Space Mountain, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, prioritize Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Slinky Dog Dash. When possible, take advantage of virtual queues, such as for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. These can save you significant time and reduce the need to wait in long lines. The My Disney Experience app will help you manage Lightning Lane selections, check wait times, and join virtual queues.

For your "drink around the world" experience at EPCOT, start your day with popular attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. In the afternoon or evening, explore the World Showcase at a relaxed pace. Pace yourself, stay hydrated, and pair your drinks with unique bites from the countries for a full experience.

If you’re visiting multiple parks, the Park Hopper option is a great way to maximize your day. Start at one park early in the morning and switch to another later in the day when crowds tend to shift. For example, begin your day at Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, then hop to EPCOT in the evening for the World Showcase.

With some strategic planning, your trip during Marathon Weekend can still be an unforgettable experience. If you have more questions or need additional tips, don’t hesitate to reach out to planDisney again. Have a magical time!
