I plan to visit Disney next year for my daughters 3rd birthday and halloween! what hotel is best to stay at and what parks are best for a 3 year old? lastly, is October a good month to visit?

    Brittany:

October is one of the best times of the year if you are looking for good weather that is neither extremely hot or cold and brings manageable crowds. As a parent, I enjoy Halloween at Disney: it doesn't celebrate the macabre, making it the right mix for your daughter's age.

I'd recommend staying at a hotel near the Magic Kingdom for proximity to the park both for naps and to avoid the crowds who will be visiting Epcot's Food & Wine Festival on the opposite side of the resort. If you stay at the Contemporary, you can use the monorail to get to Magic Kingdom or just walk 10 minutes over to the front gates with your daughter comfortably seated in a stroller. Best of all, when nap time comes, you can stroll from the parks to the monorail and get off in the lobby of the Contemporary and stroll to the elevator and your room without disturbing her. If you find yourself needing to tuck her in bed early, get a Magic Kingdom-view room and watch the fireworks from your balcony.

If the Contemporary isn't within your budget, consider the Art of Animation. Your daughter will be captivated by the characters from The Little Mermaid as well as Lion King. It will be warm enough to enjoy the pool with its zero-entry and underwater sea creatures that provide water play around the pool. The resort's theme will be memorable.

Don't miss Hollywood Studios for your visit. Magic Kingdom is iconic but many of the characters that toddlers know as Disney are from Playhouse Disney, Cars or Toy Story. You'll see all of the characters at Hollywood Studios so take the time to see all of the shows.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
