Plan to visit AK on 12/16 & MK 12/18 but I'm now thinking of swapping the dates. Thoughts? Thanks!

Hey, Shaun! So, the first question that popped in my head for you is, "Are you staying at a Disney Resort Hotel?" The answer to this is going to greatly influence my advice to you! If you are, then you are eligible to attend Extra Magic Hours. I notice that Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park hosts a morning Extra Magic Hour on Monday, December 16, while Magic Kingdom Park stays open two hours later on Wednesday, December 18, for evening Extra Magic Hours. If you are planning to take advantage of this resort benefit, then I think your current plan is great. I enjoy that morning Extra Magic Hour because we can get so much done - oh, how wonderful it is to get that early start on Avatar Flight of Passage! However, and this is a HUGE however, if you are not eligible for Extra Magic Hours then I want to highly recommend that you reconsider your plan. This also applies if you do not think you will actually make it to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park before the Extra Magic Hour begins or be able to stay up for the late night in Magic Kingdom Park. Arriving late for the park opening on those early mornings, to me, negates the whole benefit of Extra Magic Hours.

I also want to recommend to you that you have a sort of game plan for your visit this coming week. In my experience, the crowds this week really ramp up with schools across the nation releasing for holiday break. On weeks like this, my mantra is to get up early and find as much pixie dust as possible before noon each day. Those first few hours of park opening can be a bit less crowded, so get in there and have fun! Take advantage of those Extra Magic Hours if you are eligible and don't forget to make your FastPass+ selections.

I hope this helps you make a final itinerary for your visit, but please let us know if you have any other questions and we will be happy to help!
