we want to plan a trip for may 2019, when will the window open? we will also have extended family coming in at a separate dates and one is active military. Do military get a discount on packages and can they all be linked?

Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Marylynn!

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels accept rooms-only reservations up to 499 days before the date of travel. Ticket prices, special packages and dining plan options are usually released four months to a year in advanced of their first date of use, which you can always add to your rooms-only reservation as they become available.

While there are no military discounts on packaged special offers or the ever popular free dining promotion, U.S. Military members are thanked for their service with their own great rates on tickets and rooms-only reservations. The service member or their spouse must be with any friends or extended family members at their time of check-in AND while first activating park tickets to pass on the following great deals.

For a Resort Hotel discount, call the reservation line at (407) 939-5277. You're usually able to book two rooms at this price and they can be two separate reservations as long as they are booked at the same time for the same overlapping trip dates. My husband is in the Air Force and we're taking my parents next week this way. Pro tip: you'll have a better chance of finding a room discount the further out you book.

As for tickets, Disney has offered a truly amazing Military promotional ticket over the last few years. The specifics and prices are valid for only the current calendar year, with next years rendition usually announced in October, but in my experience everything remains about the same from year to year. Your service member will be able to purchase up to six of these tickets in advance on base, and can link them to family members through their My Disney Experience Account.

I hope this helped, and We'll See You Real Soon, Marylynn!
