Disney family making smores by a campfire

I would like to plan a trip for my family (as a retirement celebration.) I plan to retire mid-2022, and would like to take three families to Fort Wilderness, to stay in three cabins in close proximity. How far out can I book?

Hey there, Dianna! Thanks for stopping by planDisney and congratulations on your upcoming retirement!

When it comes to booking room-only reservations at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can make that reservation up to 499 days in advance, which is just about in reach! To book this far out, you’ll want to call the friendly Cast Members at Walt Disney World.

Once you book your room, I would then suggest keeping a close eye for Disney to release vacation packages including dining plans and tickets as we inch closer to mid-2022, this way you can be one of the first ones to adjust your plans. You might also bookmark Walt Disney World’s Special Offers page to regularly check once you select your vacation dates. Then, if one of these offers fall within the dates of your vacation, just give those friendly Cast Members a call and they will help adjust your existing reservations.

Our family has adjusted vacation plans a number of times and I highly recommend it! It’s always nice to know things are “set” with an early reservation but that you still have the ability to adjust.
