I would like to plan a trip for my family of 3 in July 2010. Problem is hubby is in Afghanistan and SHOULD have block leave in July. How should I plan w/o specific dates until the last minute? suggestions PLEASE.

I can understand your frustration Margie about planning ahead when you are not sure of what is ahead for your husband's leave.  I suggest you book a resort for two weeks and then cancel the days you don't need when you find out the exact leave time.

As far as dining it is done 90 days out and if you are not still sure of his leave then pick and choose and make some reservations anyway that fit your needs and interests.  PIck several character dining experiences that cover the time of the extended reservation you made so you most likely will get at least one of them during your stay. There are so many great restaurants on property that whatever ones you end up with you most likely will be quite happy with the dining.

During the busy summer months reservations are needed not only for dining but also for special recreation and shows.  It is difficult when you don't know your exact schedule but do the best you can 90 days out and hope for the best.  Last minute reservations are possible for things so you can always check for those as well.
