We want to plan a trip to Disney World for Halloween or Christmas When do the decorations go up and come down? We want to have the Stars Wars Experience and then 2 nights and 3 days at the Parks

    Hi Patricia! Welcome to planDisney!

Visiting the Walt Disney World Resort during the holidays adds an extra layer of magic to your visit! The Magic Kingdom Park, in particular, goes all out decorating for both Halloween and Christmas to help enhance the celebrations. You’ll find tasty holiday treats for each season and special events that take place. In years past, there have been exclusive parties or after-hour events that took place on select nights for Guests to celebrate the holidays. They will typically feature special firework or stage shows, parades, and overlays on certain attractions.

Halloween decorations will usually begin being put up around mid-August at the Magic Kingdom. The nighttime parties or after-hour events usually start up around this time frame, so Disney makes sure to have the park decked out. You'll find Mickey-shaped pumpkins around Main Street, U.S.A., and fall foliage everywhere to be found. Disney Springs does an amazing job at decorating for this time of year as well. Make sure to stop at World of Disney to find the latest Halloween merchandise!

Christmas decorations will typically go up the first or second day of November. The Magic Kingdom will transform overnight into a Winter Wonderland! Main Street, U.S.A. is again decorated to perfection and capped off with a giant Christmas tree in the front of the walk. Speaking of ginormous trees, many of the Disney Resort hotels filled their grand lobbies with them. Many of the resorts do an amazing job of mixing in the magic of Disney with the holiday season. You also won't want to miss Disney's Hollywood Studios during this time of year. Between the festive décor and the holiday music, this park is a must-visit during this time.

I can't believe I am this deep into the answer and we are now just talking about Star Wars! Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser should be a top priority on this trip. You will not find a more immersive, state-of-the-art resort experience than what you will get staying here. For two nights and three days, you are transformed into the story and play your own character. Everything from the food, drink, activities, transportation, and more play a large role in why this experience is so special.

Patricia, I have a feeling this trip is going to be epic! Mixing the holiday season with a flight on the Galactic Starcruiser is going to be hard to beat!

May the Force be with you!
